The Importance of Virginity. I like to thank my man of God Rev. Dr Chris Oyakhilome for giving me this platform to air these views. In our present world, virginity "seems" to be thrown under the carpet. It is made to look as though it is not important. It is the same old devil, planting his darkness in men to always knock out the TRUTH. Remember what he did to Eve? he is still doing it today. Thank God, the gates of hell, shall not prevail against the church. Hallelujah! Let's examine some scripture and be able to pull out some values about virginity. And please, don't be biased by this article, it is simply the living word of God. For us to really have an idea what virginity means, we have to go to the origin. So, the first time the Bible mentioned something relating to virginity, was in Genesis. Genesis 24:16 KJV And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came up. The Hebrew word used is"bethoolaw" meaning to separate; a virgin. This in itself is amazing. A virgin is a virgin. There is nothing you can do about it. The emphasis from the above scripture is much more than not being involved in sexual intercourse, there is a separating, a holiness, a sanctification on a virgin. Notice from the above scripture, after the adjective "virgin", the next word was "neither had any man known her". So, is beyond just sex. Remember, in Genesis 4:1, the Bible said "And Adam knew Eve...". So, God and man highly prize Virginity. Don't be deceived by those so called contemporary ideologies of men, being deceived, deceive others. This things were written for our learning. Praise God! I like the way the English American Dictionary Define virginity "Not yet cultivated, explored, or exploited by humans or humans of certain civilizations. Let's go deeper. Matthew 1:23 KJV Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. It could have been written "...a woman shall be with child" just any woman. But why a "Virgin"? Does this not tell us something? Let's observe again. Luke 2:36 KJV And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity; why did the Bible specifically say, "...from her virginity;" why from her virginity? It could have being "from her marriage". The significance is, she was separate and remained a virgin till marriage. This is Gods approval for the Christian brothers and sisters. Here, we are seeing the mind or culture of God for us His children. The world has turn this truth upside down and we know it's a lie! Acts 21:9 KJV And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy. The bible could have said"...four daughters which did prophecy" but included virgins. Why the inclusion? This always got my attention. If it was not important, the author of the Bible-HolySpirit-would have ignored it. So, it is important we look into it and take advantage of it. If we read 1corinthians 7:25 to 37, Paul the Apostle used the word "virgins" again and again. He is in sync with God. Please note, virginity is not limited to women only. Though, The bible made references more, pointing towards women. That doesn't mean that virginity is a woman thing. If you study Matthew 25:1 to 13, you would noticed that the kingdom of heaven was likened to 10 virgins. All members of the kingdom of heaven are all virgins-wise virgins-men and women. See this scripture also; Revelation 14:4 KJV These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb. I guess this is clear? I can hear a yes... Virginity is all about purity , both for those who choose to get and not get married. Our focus centers around marriage. I want you to think about this for a moment, imagine the first and only person you had a sexual relationship with is your husband or wife. For sure, any other person will certainly not fit in in your mind and body as to sex except your spouse. What could be more purer than that? All the mental images about sex after your first experience and experiences to come, ruminates around your spouse, it is a great blessing of purity and heavy satisfaction. No wonder, Virgins are more successful in marriages than non-virgins. Because, they are highly contented or satisfied with their spouses. Funny enough, Virginity affects every area of their life. Virginity affects you through out life. Another biblical term for virginity is something undefiled for sacred use. If you study the scripture below, Paul the apostle used the word "chaste". Is from the Greek "hagnos" it means properly clean, innocent, modest, perfect, pure, sacred etc... 2 Corinthians 11:2-3 KJV For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. Virginity affects your seeds Leviticus 21:13-15 KJV And he shall take a wife in her virginity. A widow, or a divorced woman, or profane, or an harlot, these shall he not take: but he shall take a virgin of his own people to wife. See it in verse 15, Neither shall he profane his seed among his people: for I the Lord do sanctify him. My goodness! This was to the Priest of old. Now, God hath made us Priest unto Himself. Rev 10:5. That means, these are still applicable to us today. Virginity in our day and time, can not be over emphasized. You may not want to hear it or you may say "I am not a virgin after-all", whether or not, it concerns you. You knowing the importance of virginity, could go a long way helping young people to braze up and embrace the truth. That is what success means. If you are a virgin, remain a virgin. If you are not, thank God for Romans 12:1,2&3, be transformed by renewing your mind. First, present your body as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God. Stay away from sexual sin and enjoy the breath discipline brings. There's still hope for you. Glory! Keep shinning and send in your comments. God bless you. Sent from my iPad
