Why You Must Pray for Your Pastors “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.” (1 Timothy 2:1-2) It is often emphasized that we pray for those that have civil authority over us; do you realize it is also important to pray for those that bear spiritual authority? In our opening verse the Spirit of God, through the Apostle Paul, exhorts that we pray for all that are in authority; in the house of God, this refers to Pastors or those that lead groups of people. How often do you pray for your Pastors? Pastors impact the lives of people in many ways; they are responsible for not only themselves but for those that God has given them charge over. They bear the burden of others; therefore, when things aren’t going as they should for a Pastor, it affects other people. One of Satan’s most effective tool is distraction. He would sometimes try to create problems to distract ministers from their work, because he knows that if they are distracted, they won’t be able to effectively study, teach or strategize for ministry as they should. Consequently, those they lead will be affected as well. This is why you must pray for them. Moreover, our opening verse says to pray for them, “…that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. “ This means praying for your leaders is in your interest. Make it a constant practice to pray for your Pastor. Culled from Pastor Cell leaders forum website ...God is marvelously gracious.
