Over 11,000 scientists from around the world declare a 'climate emergency' A new study signed by more than 11,000 scientists in 153 countries supports the use of the term "climate emergency," a phrase more commonly heard in the calls of climate activists, according to the Washington Post. This is the first time that a group of scientists this large has formally backed addressing climate change as an "emergency."  The term's embrace from the global scientific community points to a growing sense of urgency of addressing climate change's effects and root causes.  The paper, published on Tuesday in the journal Bioscience, called properly informing the public of the gravity of climate change a "moral obligation" for those in the scientific community.  Read more...More about Social Good, Climate Change, Science News, Climate Crisis, and Climate Emergency http://feeds.mashable.com/~r/Mashable/~3/D_uwIPKBTH4/

It's camping season: Save on Stanley cookware, food storage, and more gear Early fall is the perfect time to go camping — it’s not too hot, not too cold, and if you’re lucky, it hasn’t started inexplicably snowing yet (but with the way climate change is devastating our planet, who can truly say!).  If you’re going to venture out into the great wide open before the weather inevitably goes to hell, it’s important that you’re prepared with the right gear (and good gear). Speaking from experience, you don’t want to get your campsite all set up only to realize that you brought nothing to cook with. Unless you want to eat Spam right out of the can for dinner (which we do not recommend), then you're going to have to do some work leading up to the excursion.  Read more...More about Camping, Mashable Shopping, Cookware, Food Storage, and Thermoses http://feeds.mashable.com/~r/Mashable/~3/gH56GLs-SGQ/

Watch Bon Appétit's Molly Baz attempt to make a raindrop cake Remember the raindrop cake? In 2016, a banner year for viral foods, the popular Japanese dessert enjoyed a moment of fame in the States, but hasn't been in the news much since then. Luckily, Molly Baz is here to remedy that problem: She gives the notoriously complicated treat a try in a new Bon Appétit video. Baz really does her homework here, speaking with a food scientist as well as Darren Wong, the man who popularized the raindrop cake in the U.S. She ends up with a "visually stunning" PB&J-flavored creation all her own, which seems to taste about as delicious as a raindrop cake can taste.  Read more...More about Bon Appetit, Culture, Food, and Web Culture http://feeds.mashable.com/~r/Mashable/~3/o7ltMZFZYaE/

The Apple Watch Series 5 is at its lowest price ever on Amazon TL;DR: The Apple Watch Series 5 (GPS + Cellular, 44 mm) and its always-on Retina display are $699 at Amazon — a $50 savings and likely the best sale you'll see even through Black Friday. The Apple Watch Series 5 when it sees other smartwatches and fitness trackers going on sale for Black Friday: Apple has been weirdly stingy with its newest generation Apple Watch for the past few Black Fridays. In 2018, there were virtually no discounts on the Series 4 (which was the newest model at the time but had already been out for a few months). Sprint offered $100 off of it if you added a new line to your plan, but as for deals without stipulations? Nah. Instead, retailers seemed to be really pushing the Series 3, and that's the situation we expect this year with the Apple Watch Series 5 versus Series 4.
