PREPARING YOUR HEART AND YOUR WAYS - THE RE-AWAKENING Anne Wafula Strike was born in Kenya and contracted polio aged two. After a life walking with crutches and callipers, she got her first wheelchair when she was pregnant. She discovered wheelchair sports and competed for Kenya Paralympics, making the 400 metres final in the T53 classification 400 metres Paralympics. Anne says of the experience, “Being in Athens was like a new chapter in my life, one that I was going to live and celebrate for a long time. When I was on the starting line and heard the announcement, “Anne Wafula, representing Kenya”, I was so proud to be there representing my nation on the world stage”. In 2007 she won a bronze in the Paralympic World Cup and fourth place in the World Championships. In 2008 – now living in England - she missed out on selection for the GB team for the Beijing Paralympics by 0.1 seconds. She said, “It was so hard not to make the team after working 4 years. But as a Christian, I believed that God had a purpose for me – whether to win a medal or not get to the start line. And when I missed out on selection, my faith supported me. The experience made me a stronger person”. Her relationship with Jesus is central to who she is: “Having Jesus in my life puts a smile on my face every day. It is a smile that is from within. When people see the smile on my face, it is the glory of God. People don’t just see Anne. They see Anne who is covered in the glory of God.” Everyone of us experience different levels of persecutions, challenges, adversity and difficulties; it's easy to become negative and bitter and loose your enthusiasm for life So many people live in the past focusing on who hurt, disappointed or let them down. They have a victim's mentality always blaming some one else. But you are not defined by your past, experiences or what others do to you. You are prepared by your past! Hallelujah! Every challenge you've been through, every adversity you've faced, God deposited something on the inside. Your character was being moulded and developed, strength was being increased, vision was being enlarged. With every difficulty you can experience a new level of God's Grace, Kindness, Wisdom and goodness. You may have had unfortunate and unfair incidences, somebody did you wrong or may be poor choices brought trouble upon you; but your past never defines you instead it prepares you for a better future.  One of the best things I've learnt is that nothing happens to me....IT HAPPENS FOR ME AND FOR MY GOOD!! God never allows His own, to go through the difficult time if He didnt have a purpose or plan for it. He wouldn't have allowed adversity to come if He didn't already have a plan for good to come out of it. Even though you may be going through challenges or even though something seems unfair, if you'd keep the right attitude it would help you evolve and transform into who God planned for you to be and it would take you to where you are supposed to go.  So shake off self pity! Shake off bitterness! Shake off hurt! You may have had your dreams dashed or lost a loved one; these are all life's events that confront our faith, that's why we have been commissioned to fight the good fight of faith. Whether we feel up to it or not, life is spiritual and you must participate in the realm of the Spirit because you are natively spiritual. You can't just get tired, fed up and quit. It's not allowed! You are a soldier in the battle field and you can't just stand their at the battle front taking in the scenery. You must take up your cross and follow Jesus! Take up your Faith and fight the good fight of faith and win.  Jesus died and rose again; you've been through the darkness and the pain; the sunshine and the rain. What or who emerges should be a taller palm tree, a more glorious, greater and mature version of you shining so brightly as Lights to your world.    When you walk in the light as He is in the light His Grace, Love, Mercy, personality, thoughts and character mingle with your Spirit. You see and talk differently; your disposition syncs and lines up with His Word..You are not harsh and brash; quick to be critical, condescending or judge others according to the appearance of things. You are not impulsive or irrational in your decisions, choices and stance concerning your life, present, future and the lives of others. You are yielded to the Holy Spirit's leading and guidance about everything that concerns you. You become more accommodating, lowly, humble, patient, considerate, cautious, sagacious, penetratingly discerning and acutely insightful. Why? Because often, we see things as WE ARE are not as they are. We perceive life, others and events with the personality of our own thoughts, ideas, reasonings, preferences that's been formed over the years and now is mingled into the character of who we have become today.  Regardless of what happens refuse to think that it happened to you. Instead choose to accept that it happened FOR YOU! This perspective changes everything. Why?  1 Corinthians 10:13 TPT We all experience times of testing, which is normal for every human being. But God will be faithful to you. He will screen and filter the severity, nature, and timing of every test or trial you face so that you can bear it. And each test is an opportunity to trust him more, for along with every trial God has provided for you a way of escape that will bring you out of it victoriously. Romans 8:26‭-‬28 TPT "And in a similar way, the Holy Spirit takes hold of us in our human frailty to empower us in our weakness. For example, at times we don’t even know how to pray, or know the best things to ask for. But the Holy Spirit rises up within us to super-intercede on our behalf, pleading to God with emotional sighs too deep for words. God, the searcher of the heart, knows fully our longings, yet he also understands the desires of the Spirit, because the Holy Spirit passionately pleads before God for us, his holy ones, in perfect harmony with God’s plan and our destiny. So we are convinced that every detail of our lives is continually woven together to fit into God’s perfect plan of bringing good into our lives, for we are his lovers who have been called to fulfill his designed purpose". Romans 8:35‭-‬39 TPT "Who could ever separate us from the endless love of God’s Anointed One? Absolutely no one! For nothing in the universe has the power to diminish his love toward us. Troubles, pressures, and problems are unable to come between us and heaven’s love. What about persecutions, deprivations, dangers, and death threats? No, for they are all impotent to hinder omnipotent love, even though it is written: All day long we face death threats for your sake, God. We are considered to be nothing more than sheep to be slaughtered! Yet even in the midst of all these things, we triumph over them all, for God has made us to be more than conquerors, and his demonstrated love is our glorious victory over everything! So now I live with the confidence that there is nothing in the universe with the power to separate us from God’s love. I’m convinced that his love will triumph over death, life’s troubles, fallen angels, or dark rulers in the heavens. There is nothing in our present or future circumstances that can weaken his love. There is no power above us or beneath us—no power that could ever be found in the universe that can distance us from God’s passionate love, which is lavished upon us through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One!
