THINK ON THESE THINGS WITH JASON "Have you prayed about it though?.." This was a question I had heard several times before finally catching the gist of it, and making it my habit. In our lives, there are many things we come across, yet for many, only some are ‘deserving of prayer’, as if prayer is restricted to this "special class of events", and you are not able to pray in regards to anything else outside of this bracket. 'Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.' Philippians 4:6 I believe the writer was very clear here; "In every circumstance and in everything." I’m sure you would know this verse, but it may take some reflection on your part to discover if you are truly acting on it. Oh, something is very "heavy on your chest" that you just have to speak to your friend about it. But I thank God for the friends he gave me that will always stop me and ask, ‘Have you prayed about it though?’. If you find it worth discussing with someone, discuss it first in prayer, and you may just find the matter resolved before you have the chance to bring it up elsewhere. So whether it be relationships (parents, friends, leaders or otherwise), school work, church work, or whatever. Once it finds any room in your heart or mind, bring it before the Lord and let him resolve it. Now, for some practical tips on prayer: ■Make a habit of writing down the things you pray about. Our man of God once said, if you pray about something and shortly after forget about it, it is almost as good as you not having prayed at all. After all, part of prayer is putting your faith to work in keeping an eye out for the response, but how would you know when you have seen the result if you do not even remember that you prayed? ■Dedicated prayer time is important and irreplaceable. That you are praying up to two hours in a day (when you calculate all the corporate prayers and the quick 1-2 minute prayer sessions you may do throughout the day) is wonderful, but it cannot replace your own set aside, specially dedicated and intentional times of prayer. And if you must rise up early or go to bed late, you have to get it done. ■Always take note to pray for the vision, at whatever level it may come to you. I don’t mean your personal visions, (which is wonderful to do) but the vision of the ministry, and of our man of God. This should always be prior in your heart. Whether you operate at the cell, church, zonal or regional level, you must also align with the vision and goal of your unit, and pray in that direction. You work under the grace of the one that the Lord has set in charge of you, and so you have a responsibility to pray about the vision that has been communicated to you.
