They say when two elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers. This is very much the case with the conflict between President Salva Kiir Mayardit of South Sudan, a member of the Dinka tribe and his former Vice- President, Riek Machar, a member of the Nuer tribe. Their political conflict quickly escalated into an ethnic crisis that has led to the deaths of tens of thousands of people with millions displaced. Those displaced by the crisis moved to camps which rapidly became overpopulated. Food, healthcare, clean water are in short supply and the education of the children has been drastically affected as the camps have a few makeshift schools ill-equipped to cater to the large numbers of children. This week and subsequently, Member Agencies of the Chris Oyakhilome Foundation International will be providing food, education, medical services, and more to those displaced by the crisis. Most importantly, the Word of God will be delivered to them to help heal their spirits, souls and bodies. There is so much to be done. One of the camps alone has over 30000 internally displaced persons living there.
