NEWS UPDATE: GLOBAL IMPACT THROUGH SAFE BLOOD DONATION Trauma has been identified as the 9th leading cause of death globally with over 3,000 deaths recorded daily. Severe blood loss (hemorrhage) is one of the complications associated with trauma-related injuries, and in many cases, urgent blood transfusion is needed to preserve the lives of the victims. In many countries where unsafe blood transfusion is commonplace, there is a heightened risk of the patient’s exposure to blood transmissible diseases such as Hepatitis, HIV/AIDS, etc. Viable solution to this public health challenge is increased availability of safe blood for transfusion through regular donations by voluntary, non-remunerated blood donors. In response, Trauma Care International Foundation, a vibrant Member Agency of the Chris Oyakhilome Foundation International coordinated Global Voluntary Blood Donation Campaign, contributing extensively towards increasing the pool of registered voluntary unpaid blood donors all around the world. This year’s highly impactful event resulted in the recruitment of thousands of voluntary blood donors spread across 97 countries, wide-scale donor mobilization and hosting of voluntary blood donation drives in 120 centers and still counting. Impact Testimonies👇👇👇 Feedback received from the exercise was overwhelmingly positive as many commented favorably on the experience. Some of the blood donor teams received commendation awards from their state and regional blood transfusion agencies for their commitment to providing this valuable resource needed to save many lives. DID YOU KNOW? Zimbabwe is a landlocked country located in the southern Africa; the country is widely known for its diverse wildlife and magnificent landscapes. The Victoria Falls on the Zambezi River is a major thrill among tourists who visit Zimbabwe. Exotic birdlife, flora and fauna, highland mountains and flowing rivers remarkably boost the beauty of the country. In March 2019, Tropical Cyclone Idai hit eastern Zimbabwe, affecting 270,000 people with at least 1,000 deaths, 175 casualties, 257 reportedly missing victims, over 2000 houses destroyed, 29,000 families displaced, more than 95% of road networks damaged.  Tropical Cyclone Idai caused significant damage to education infrastructure; more than 60 schools affected, 18 water points destroyed, prevalent water borne diseases, high risk of malnutrition amongst others. Destruction to infrastructure and property was severe as death toll was on the rise and the full extent of damage uncertain. Cyclone Idai negatively affected food security conditions among nearly 192,000 people. Currently, there are 20, 411 refugees and asylum seekers in Zimbabwe; 13,865 have been registered as refugees; 70,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) reside in host communities and collective shelters. In response to the disaster, the Chris Oyakhilome Foundation International took humanitarian action, bringing relief, hope and salvation to more than two thousand internally displaced persons in Chimanimani, Zimbabwe. Several testified joyously, with immense gratitude to our Man of God for remembering victims of Tropical Cyclone Idai; one of the beneficiaries testified that since the disaster, no Organization had mobilized so many people with enormous relief items such that each person received a package. He noted that previously, only the privileged received aid; but the Chris Oyakhilome Foundation International ensured equal access to relief items. More Impact Testimonies👇 A beneficiary, who had lost his wife and 5-year-old son in the flood said: “I am grateful for receiving this Bible, it will help me in carrying on with God’s work”. A Minister that received a copy said “This Bible will bring comfort to their spirits after the loss they incurred as a result of the Cyclone, thank you so much Pastor Chris”. A Community Leader stated that “These Bibles we have received will cushion our minds after the great loss”  Glory to God!  Follow our superuser 👉@COFI for latest news and updates on COFI Global Missions Click links below to support COFI Agencies; Volunteer Medical Corps InnerCity Mission for Children Trauma Care International Foundation Future Africa Leaders Foundation Bible for All Missions

Chris Oyakhilome Foundation International brings Relief and Hope to IDPs in Northern Nigeria. Natural disasters are extreme, sudden events caused by environmental factors that injure people and damage property. Earthquakes, windstorms, floods, and disease strike anywhere on earth, often without warning.   The Chris Oyakhilome Foundation International(COFI) has been at the front-line of disaster management response through strategic interventions carried out by its member agencies – The InnerCity Mission for Children, Volunteer Medical corps, Bible for all Missions, Humanitarian Volunteer Network, FALF and Trauma Care International around the world where disaster strikes. With the spotlight on the North Eastern part of Nigeria, COFI through its Hope Relief Mission has its footprints in states within the region that have experienced disasters; either {man made or natural} and insurgencies delivering to affected people, the love of God, hope and new beginnings In 2018, The floods in many states of Nigeria  led the federal government to declare a national disaster, more than half a million people have been displaced by the floods, houses submerged, farmlands washed away and sources of livelihood eroded. These affected individuals and households in the following states; Kogi, Benue, amongst others were in dire need of humanitarian intervention. In Northeast Nigeria,  The current insecurity situation caused by  Boko Haram and  Fulani militants,  is  both a national and international concern that has led to the loss of lives, properties worth millions of dollars and mass displacement of people. Most temporary shelters or IDP camps set up for these displaced persons by the Government are overcrowded and inadequate, posing massive environmental and sanitation risks. As a result of this, delivery of basic services is hindered thereby increasing hunger, malnutrition, inadequate health care amongst other inadequacies. In response to the plight of the displaced and affected persons within the Northern Nigeria, member agencies of The Chris Oyakhilome Foundation International organized Hope Relief Missions particularly to victims in  Yola, Adamawa State, Maiduguri, Borno State and Jalingo, Taraba State in North East Nigeria , Kogi, Niger and Benue States in North Central Nigeria; to deliver,  God’s Word, Food Security, Education for the Children, Medical Services, Clean Water Kits,  Psycho-social Support, Distribution of Hygiene Hits and more! While we do not wish for them to remain as displaced persons living in such conditions, we trust that the government, security agencies and relevant stakeholders would facilitate a lasting solution to the distuption that has hampered their lives and livelihood and return to normalcy. But, in the meantime, with your support The Chris Oyakhilome Foundation International would continue to work to bring hope to the hopeless.
