AWARENESS:- DRUG USE IN PREGNANCY A drug is "a chemical substance used in the treatment, cure and prevention of medical conditions. It is also used to enhance physical or mental well-being.” Drugs may be prescribed for short periods of time or on a regular basis. Drugs ingested during pregnancy can affect the foetus in several ways depending on the timing, dose and the duration of use. Knowing the critical period during pregnancy:- 1) This is 3-8 wks (4-10 wks from Last Menstrual Period)—embryogenic period. 2) It is the critical period of organogenesis, unprescribed medications during this period may cause malformations usually recognized at birth. 3) It is desirable to minimise drug use in pregnancy especially over the counter medications. 4) Always get prescribed medications during pregnancy and be regular at ante-natal clinics. The key note is to use prescribed medications at ALL TIMES. And this is usually done by a doctor who would have taken a detailed medical history.

CHILDREN AND LEARNING Now that school is back in session, it’s time to engage the kids in health curricular activities like first aid and safety training lessons. At Trauma Care International foundation, we educate with the different learning styles in mind during our Child Safety Awareness Trainings. An individual’s learning style refers to the preferential way in which the student absorbs, processes, comprehends and retains information. Because every student learns differently, learning styles are widely recognized in both classroom management theory and education theory. WATER - A Healthy Drink for Every Occasion When you feel thirsty, it is infinitely healthier to drink water, rather than juice, carbonated drinks or other beverages. Water is essential and absolutely necessary to sustain life. This is so because water forms averagely 70% of the human body. -Staying hydrated elevates energy levels and helps alleviate headaches. -Drinking plenty of water keeps the skin moisturized and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. -One of the lesser known benefits of drinking water is that it helps keep the joints strong, healthy and lubricated. The joints need moisture in order to remain strong and flexible, so that movements are smooth and painless. #tcif #healthandsafety #everylifecounts #savinglives
