Nigeria's Democracy Day is an annual commemoration to mark the peaceful transition from Military Rule to a Democratic Government, giving her citizenry the right to choose it's leadership through an electoral process. The Democracy Day which has held on May 29th in the previous years was moved to June 12th by the present government; this year's commemoration was the first on the new date and also marked Nigeria's longest uninterrupted civilian rule since independence. In a collaborative effort between A4A Youth Initiative and Dare To Care Initiative, the 2019 Democracy Day was commemorated with the launch of an Oratory Competition - Talk Up Nigeria. The special event which held at the University of Benin was truly a rewarding experience for all attendees, with rich and educative content delivered in plenary sessions, discourses, music, spoken word presentations and more... The event climaxed in a prayer session led by an esteemed Board Member of the A4A Youth Initiative - Pastor Henry Akasili, hundreds of young people prayed for the sustenance of Nigeria's Democracy and continual progress for the Nation. ...maximising Africa's resources #Africa4Africa #A4AYouths

ONCE UPON A THURSDAY with Lauren BEAUTIFULLY BROKEN 5 Four months have gone by since I left home. The bulge in my stomach becomes more obvious as the days go by. I feel the stares, I see the pointing fingers, I hear the gossip that roll off the tongues of the market men and women. The hate burning in their hearts can scarcely be concealed as they push their kids behind their backs as I walk by. However, the parents do not stop them from taunting me. Shouts of "mad woman", " big belle" fill my ears. I would save them the stress if I can. I would lie all day on the ground of the grass-infested uncompleted building I call home. What choice do I have when rummaging in the market dump is my only chance at feeding? Since the pregnancy, my appetite has doubled. As much as I hate myself and all that I've been through, I want to win this fight. I don't know what it is, but I garner new strength each day. Sometimes I wonder if Father and Mother ever think of me, if they ever regret their actions. Do they ever go out searching for me? Do they hate themselves? Or perhaps they are happy? I would never really know because I'm millions of miles away from home. I have adjusted to my new nomadic life. I no longer care about reading the signs on the road to tell the location of the places my wandering takes me to. *** The usual bustle of the market is disrupted by a group of people who are setting up chairs, canopies and speakers right in the middle of the market. Buyers and sellers troop out to meet them, curiosity hanging in the air. A tall, dark man wearing a shirt that reads "Reach out Nigeria 2018" speaks into a microphone. He addresses the behemothic crowd with a boldness I have never before seen. "Good afternoon beautiful people. My name is Pastor John." He smiles and peers into the faces of the people to get their attention. Pointing towards the others, he says "These are my members, we are from Christ Embassy. We have come out here to celebrate Nigeria's independence with you." On hearing the name "Christ Embassy", I start to retreat. Religion has never helped anyone, I tell myself. "Anything for the boys?" Someone shouts from the crowd. "Yes o, abeg Oga we no need talk. Na money we need." A cyclist joins in. The man who introduced himself as Pastor John speaks up. "Of course, good people, there's something for each of you." He motions for his members to bring forward the items they have brought along. "There's food and clothes for you all." On hearing this, I turn around, just in time for our eyes to meet. There's a strange look in his eyes. It's nothing like the stares I receive from the market people. It's a look of compassion, I think. I look away shyly and hide behind the crowd. Once you've been given the food packs and clothes, please sit." He continues. "Come this way." He motions for a man who has received his gift items to sit on one of the chairs that have been arranged. It is my turn. Someone from the crowd shoves me. "You hear sey dem mention mad people for here?" "She dey smell sef." He shouts, wrinkling his nose. I resist the urge to sniff my underarms, knowing that I've not showered with a soap or sponge for months. I start to walk away when I feel huge hands on my shoulders. Turning around slowly, my heart warms on seeing Pastor John's smiling face and compassionate eyes. "Don't go, Edidiong. God wants you here at this time." He voices, the warm smile still plastered on his face. My eyes widen in shock as he calls my name. "But how, how do you know my name, Sir?" I stutter. be continued #beautifullybroken #onceuponathursdaywithlauren #AbeokutaMC #yearofLights ⭐

Thursday - June 13 PRAY ABOUT THE EVANGELICAL WORK OF CHURCHES AND MINISTRIES AROUND THE WORLD Psalm 67:2 T LB -Β Send us around the world with the news of your saving power and your eternal plan for all mankind.Β  Psalm 68:11 -Β The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it. Habakkuk 2:14 - For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. Β  At our scheduled prayer times today, we’ll pray mostly in tongues of the Spirit, and pray specially for the work of churches and ministries around the world. Pray that they fulfill their God given assignments, remain fervent and passionate about their work and calling, richly supplied with all they require; focused, fearless, bold and inspired for ever increasing impact of the gospel. Declare every opposition against them ineffective; that through their work, the kingdom of God expands exceedingly, and is established in the hearts of men, that the name of our Blessed Lord be glorified. Amen.

Her name is *Christiana Lyon*. She is the biological mother of this very great Kelly Lyon. She gave me her all when I needed to start. I remember in 2005 when I wanted to go into Music Production as a career. I walked up to my mum and told her what I wanted to do. She looked at me and said, *My son, you know how this period is for us as a family.* But then, I realized she couldn't sleep nor eat properly after I told her. She did all she could to make sure she raised the money. Anyways, she called me one day and said to me, *There's this money I've been saving for a while. It is nineteen thousand naira (#19,000). This is all I have right now in this life. Take it and do what u want with it. I believe in a short while, this thing you are going to do will pay off and everything will be fine.* With tears, I took the money & entered my very funny looking room in our house then and cried for a long time. I cried because the money she gave to me could have been used for food or something else for the family... because at that time, we were going through a lot. When I say a lot, it was really bad for my entire family, that sometimes for many days, there was nothing to eat. There were times back then when my father would send us to some of his friends to collect as little as #100.00 for food. It got to an extent when they saw us coming, they will hide and ask others to tell us that they were not around. My mum would hawk from morning till night just to be able to feed us all. Believe me when I say it was a so horrible, but I can't tell the full story here because letters would fail me. I remember how I began today and I can't thank this beautiful woman enough for being my personal miracle. The Kelly Lyon that the world celebrates today...the Kelly Lyon that is Personal Producer to the world's renowned Man of God and Prophet of our time, Pastor Chris who he is today because someone believed so much in his dream to give up her die to self so a dream can be born to earth. I luv u so much Mama. please help me leave a word of prayer or gratitude on my behalf to my mum with the hashtag #GodBlessMrsLyon
