WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO LABOR IN THE SPIRIT OR TRAVAIL IN THE SPIRIT? Question – Clara Allen (United Kingdom): Dear Pastor Chris, thank you for providing us this opportunity to address questions that we sometimes do not know how to answer. What does it mean to labor in the spirit or travail in the spirit? As a leader, I have been advised to labor in the spirit for my members. I have searched the scriptures, but I still need an insight into this. I thought if you prayed earnestly for a desired result and you believed you have received, then you shall have what you have asked for. Thank you. Answer: Well, laboring in the spirit or travailing in the spirit refers to two things: Laboring in the spirit just means that you’re working with the materials of the spirit – the Word of God, prayer, encouragement, sharing with them. That’s labor. When we teach people, when we study the Word of God and go out to visit and teach people the Word of God and encourage them and strengthen them, that’s laboring in the spirit, because it’s a spiritual ministry. So, that’s laboring in the spirit. Now, the second thing is travailing in the spirit – part of laboring in the spirit; it means PRAYER. And, Paul said the same thing, he said, “my little children of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you” [Galatians 4:19]; he was talking about intercessory ministry [or] intercessory prayer. So, we call it travailing because you pray in tears – YOU CRY. I understand what you’re trying to say here, “I thought if you prayed earnestly for a desired result, and you believe you have received then you shall have what you asked for.” Yes, you’re referring to a prayer of faith. Prayer of faith is when you pray like that and just expect that you got it – “whatsoever things ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye received them, and ye shall have them” [Mark 11:24]. That’s the prayer of faith, but intercessory prayer is different. The prayer of faith is for SOMETHING YOU WANT; it all depends on you, but intercessory prayer has to DO WITH SOMEONE ELSE WHO HAS A DIFFERENT WILL. And, as a leader, what they’re trying to tell you is that you’ve got to intercede for your members. That means you’re praying for people who have their own will, and they may not be subject to the word of God. They may be rebellious sometimes; they may be childish sometimes. They may be unwilling to do the things they’re supposed to be doing, which means you’re going to have to intercede, because now you’re asking God to do something that has to do with other people. You’re praying for them about them, for their sake. In that case, you can’t just pray and run off; you’re going to have to pray in intercession, which refers to this travail in the spirit. Sometimes, you cry…sometimes, there are deep sighs; sometimes, it is as though you feel like you’re in their very situation. When you intercede for others, sometimes you feel their pain. Sometimes, you feel as though you’re even lost yourself when you’re interceding for a lost man. When you’re interceding for someone who’s gone wayward, you feel like you’re the one who’s gone wayward [you know]. You feel the pain, see? And, that kind of intercessory ministry is what you’re being taught; that’s why they said you should labor in the spirit or travail in the spirit. That’s what it’s all about. ...Get answers to several other questions by visiting www.pastorchrisonline.org You can also use the link below to get materials that will build your faith. http://bit.ly/2dZqtLQ God bless you. #Iflourish #Globalsoulwinningday #Vision400 #iclc #Insight #FollowPastorChris #AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

@affirm A SPECIAL MESSAGE BY PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME WITH A PRAYER FOR YOU. http://bit.ly/2dZqtLQ Don't Give In To Sickness. My son, attend to my words...For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh (Proverbs 4:20-22). The Hebrew word for “health” in our opening scripture is “marpe,” which means “medicine.” If someone were sick and dying and got a hold of the Word, he’d be healed and restored, because God’s Word is medicine. It brings to mind the testimony of a certain brother; he’d been diagnosed with cancer which, for many, is a death sentence. However, rather than being discouraged, he made up his mind to act on the Word for a miracle. He got several of our messages and listened repeatedly for weeks. After some time, he went for his next appointment with the doctors and they couldn’t find any trace of cancer in his body. The Word of God effected a cure and completely eradicated the cancer. Are you facing any challenge in your physical body today? The Word of God is medicine! Not only does the Word destroy sickness from the body, it keeps it immune to sickness, disease, and infirmity. Don’t give in to sickness. Christ already consummated the plan for your divine health; So, it doesn’t matter what the health condition is; place your hand on it and say, “In the Name of Jesus, I refuse to accommodate this infirmity.” Whatever part of your body the challenge is, tell it off in the Name of Jesus. You have authority in that Name; use it. Someone might have been suffering from a migraine or heart trouble for a long time; it’s time to say, “No.” Understand that Jesus took care of every form of pain that could have come to you. The responsibility is now yours to establish that victory in your life! That heart trouble is unnecessary; it’s time to drop it. Yes, you can, even NOW. You say, “heart, become normal, in the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth”; and it shall be so. Live in health. Choose to be full of life every day! Hallelujah! 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥 I WANT TO PRAY FOR YOU NOW. EXPECT A MIRACLE! In the name of Jesus, I pray that the Holy Spirit will rest upon you - the anointing of God will come upon you and strengthen you and that the glory of God will rest upon your life right now. If you haven’t received the Holy Spirit, receive the Holy Spirit right now. Receive Him into your heart right now. If you haven’t received Christ, receive Christ into your heart, right now, ask Him to come into your heart. Say “Lord Jesus, I believe in you; I confess your Lordship with my mouth. I receive you as my Lord and my Savior. I believe God raised you from the dead. I proclaim you my Lord and Savior – my Master. I receive eternal life from you now into my spirit, and I am saved!” Say that; say that, and receive eternal life! And, in the Name of Jesus, if you have pains, if you have an infirmity in your body, if you have a disease in your body – something that’s made you sick, I want to pray for you. I command that pain to leave you; I command that infirmity to go from you, in the Name of Jesus. Be cleansed in your blood; be cleansed in your body. Be healed right now. Receive healing for your bones. Receive healing for your body. From the crown of your head to the soles of your feet, be made every whit whole right now, in the Name of Jesus! Yes, be healed! Be healed! Be healed right now, by the power of the Holy Ghost, in the Name of Jesus! Oh, praise God, praise God, praise God! The anointing is reaching out to you right now. Yes, the anointing is reaching out to you! If you gave your heart to Christ or you've received a miracle for your body, you can write us on: affirmationtrain@minister.com Until I come your way again, keep living in an atmosphere of miracles. QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS SESSION WITH REV. (DR.) CHRIS OYAKHILOME. http://bit.ly/2dZqtLQ QUESTION – John Jeff Momoh (Sierra Leone): I want to know if deliverance is necessary for a Christian especially when you think of the African background and the ceremonies and rituals performed. Also, why don’t you preach on deliverance? ANSWER : He’s asking me “Why don’t I preach on deliverance?” 😊😊 Well, I do preach on deliverance; I may not preach the kind of deliverance that you might be thinking about, but I believe the Word of God brings us deliverance [really]. And, once we receive Christ, we are delivered! That’s what it’s all about! See, the Gospel is a gospel of deliverance – you are automatically delivered. Now, when we receive Christ, we receive Him as Lord of our lives. You have to understand this - how we got salvation. In Romans Chapter 10 verse 9, the Bible says “If thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in thine heart that God raised him up from the dead, thou shall be saved.” Now that means that Jesus Christ has become Lord of your life! If He’s become Lord of your life – and by that you became saved – then what do you need to be delivered from anymore? That is the deliverance! The Lordship of Jesus Christ over your life is what broke the dominion of Satan from your life completely because Jesus became your Lord! You cannot have Jesus as Lord of your life, and at the same time have Satan lording it over you. So that’s the deliverance! So the gospel of Jesus Christ already brought deliverance! Now, it doesn’t matter what kind of background, like you talked about fetish background, African rituals and all those things that people used to perform; when you become a Christian, the Bible says in 2nd Corinthians Chapter 5 and verse 17: “…if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation” automatically! Then it says “… old things have passed away and all things have become new.” So, that’s why the Christian does not need deliverance. The Christian has already gotten his deliverance when he made Jesus Christ the Lord of his life! When you became a Christian, you already received your deliverance into Christ. So now you’re in Christ! The trouble with a lot of people is that, even though they are in Christ, they still have the mentality of bondage; they still have the mentality of the oppressed; they have the mentality of satanic strongholds. This is their problem, not because what they are experiencing is real – they are experiencing a mirage! You see, and you know, Jesus said “Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” [John 8:32] The truth is vital. So, the Bible already tells us that he begot us again unto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ. So we are into that living hope today by the resurrection of Jesus Christ. And remember, when Jesus died, we died with him; when he was buried, we were buried with him; when God raised him from the dead, we were raised together with him! So today we have a new life in Christ. We are no longer in bondage. We don’t need that deliverance anymore. So, when you became a Christian, you were completely delivered. Now you don’t need another deliverance; Jesus Christ is Lord of your life! He’s already your Lord; you don’t need another deliverance. So, I preach deliverance, just not the way you were thinking I should. #Iflourish #Globalsoulwinningday #Vision400 #iclc #LoveWorldUSA #Insight #FollowPastorChris #AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

*HOW TO EFFECTIVELY COMMUNICATE..(PASTOR CHRIS)* Communication plays a very important role in achieving vision 400. Your ability to effectively communicate is key to success and the following will enable you become an excellent communicator. *1. Build the relationship first* - always When a great communicator approaches an audience, he/she takes the time to say, “good morning” and “how’s your day going?” “Trust you had a most excellent night rest? etc". The effect of the relationship-building forays is incalculable. *2. Friendliness:* Through a friendly tone, a personal question, or simply a smile, you will encourage your audience to engage in open and honest communication with you. It's important to be nice and polite. Learn to use the word "KINDLY". *3. Clarity and Concision:* Good communication means saying just enough - don't say too little or talk too much. Try to convey your message in as few words as possible. Say what you want clearly and directly. If you ramble on, your listener will either tune you out or will be unsure of exactly what you want. Think about what you want to say before you say it; this will help you to avoid talking excessively and/or confusing your audience. *4. Confidence:* It is important to be confident in all of your interactions with others. Confidence ensures your listener that you believe in and will follow through with what you are saying. Exuding confidence can be as simple as making eye contact or using a firm but friendly tone (avoid making statements sound like questions). Of course, be careful not to sound arrogant or aggressive. Be sure you are always listening to and empathizing with the other person. *5.Nonverbal Communication:* Your body language, eye contact, hand gestures, and tone all color the message you are trying to convey. A relaxed, open stance (arms open, legs relaxed), and a friendly tone will make you appear approachable, and will encourage others to speak openly with you. Eye contact is also important; you want to look the person in the eye to demonstrate that you are focused on the person and the conversation (however, be sure not to stare at the person, which can make him or her uncomfortable). Also pay attention to other people's nonverbal signals while you are talking. Often, nonverbal signals convey how a person is really feeling. For example, if the person is not looking you in the eye, he or she might be uncomfortable or hiding the truth. Know when someone is tired or in an hurry and decide on how best you can convey your message or book another appointment *6. Avoid argument :* Being a good listener is one of the best ways to be a good communicator and helps avoid argument. You can only get what you give. Keep an open mind to know how best to answer questions but avoid questions that stirs up argument. Be wise, be diplomatic and tactfully handle such scenes. #Iflourish #Globalsoulwinningday #Vision400 #iclc #LoveWorldUSA #Insight #FollowPastorChris #AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS SESSION WITH REV. (DR.) CHRIS OYAKHILOME. http://bit.ly/2dZqtLQ QUESTION – Rosa (Canada): What effectual prayer can one pray to bring about the salvation of a loved one? I have prayed for years and they seem to be getting worse by the day. I use the word of God and confess loudly; how long will it take? Can one be so lost that they are never able to be found by Christ, because they are so deep in sin? How can I help get them out? ANSWER : Through intercessory prayer and the prayer of faith. When you intercede for them [intercession is standing in the gap for others, that’s what it actually means. You stand in the gap for others], you pray as though you are the one in their situation, as though you are the one that is lost and calling for salvation. And with the intensity of spirit, you pray. And when you pray like that, God hears you according to the Bible. And then you have to pray the prayer of faith, which is your faith declaration. And when you declare your faith, you don’t have to worry anymore, because the prayer of faith is such that you make the statement in faith and accept that it is done. Jesus said in Mark 11:24: “What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” And that’s it. But first, intercede for them. Through intercession, you prevail over the circumstances of their lives that have run them into darkness. QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS SESSION WITH REV. (DR.) CHRIS OYAKHILOME. QUESTION – Gustave (South Africa): Good day Pastor Chris. I’m Gustave, a prophet from the Messenger Church in Johannesburg. I want to know why it was forbidden in the Bible (Paul writing to the Corinthian Church and to Timothy) for women to preach in a congregation. Why don’t we see in the Bible a female Apostle, Pastor, Evangelist, Prophet, or Doctor? Thank you Pastor. ANSWER : Alright! Now, in the Bible, there are two particular places that Paul actually talked about women speaking, you know, whether in church or wherever. There are two particular places where the Bible talks about it, and in none of those places did he say that a woman should not preach. Now, this is an erroneous idea that a lot of people have cooked up, you know, to make it look like God never wanted a woman-preacher. Now, the first place is in 1st Corinthians Chapter 14, and I want to read to you what it says there so you’ll understand exactly what the Bible is telling us. In 1st Corinthians Chapter 14, I’ll read to you from verse 34, and I want you to listen to what it says: “Let your women keep silence in the churches; for it is not permitted unto them to speak…” Now, He didn’t talk about preaching – I want you to listen carefully [continues scripture quotation] “…for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also sayeth the law. And if they will learn anything, let them ask their husbands at home; for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.” Then it says “What? Came the word of God out of you, or from you, or came it unto you only? If any man think himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that are right unto you are commandments from the Lord. [1 Corinthians 14:34-36]” Now, you know what it’s talking about here? He’s dealing with WOMEN MAKING NOISE, talking to their husbands, asking questions in the church in disregard to their husbands or directly to their husbands. It says “…if they will learn anything, they should ask…at home...” See, the context tells us what Paul was talking about here - the context. He says it was not permitted for women to speak in the church. If they will learn anything, they should ask their husbands at home. What about those without husbands? What should they do? Because it was specific. So that tells us that there was a relational problem in the church. There was a relational problem in the church, and this had to do with women and their husbands and the kind of communication they were having in the church. That’s what he was talking about. Now, the next place where he talks about something similar is what will tell you what he was dealing with here. Then we’ll talk about some other examples in the Bible that show us whether or not this was what God had in mind. Now, we’ll go to the next place which is in 1st Timothy Chapter 2. I’ll read to you from verse 11: “Let the woman learn in silence, with all subjection [1 Timothy 2:11].” You see? So he’s talking about the same thing. He said women should keep silent in the church, ok? Now again, he [Paul] picks it up, and he’s talking to Timothy, who was the pastor of the church at Ephesus at this time. You see? So Timothy was a pastor, which means that the message he’s writing to Timothy is consistent to what he wrote to those in the Corinthian church. So Timothy as a pastor would know exactly what to do and how to handle the church. Now, I want you to listen again to the context. So it says [continues reading from 1st Timothy] “Let the woman learn in silence, with all subjection; but I suffer not [or permit not] a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. [1 Timothy 2:11-12]” Now, that’s just clear; he’s saying exactly the same things he said before, just in other words. Now, listen to it. It says “…but I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.” He didn’t say “I suffer not women to teach, nor to usurp authority over men.” He’s not speaking about women and men in general; he’s talking about the man and his wife. He says [listen], “I suffer not a woman to teach, nor usurp authority over the man.” What do you mean by ‘the man’? The man that’s connected to the woman – that will be her husband. You see that? That’s what it’s talking about. That will be her husband - the man that’s connected to that woman. So, definite article - ‘the man’ - definite article. Then, the use of the term here ‘usurp’ – that means that that man already had authority over this woman, and this woman is trying to ride out of that authority to be over him. So it says “I do not permit her to teach him, or usurp authority over him.” It’s talking about husbands and wives. So, that’s the same context in which he said it in 1st Corinthians Chapter 14. Now, by the way, remember, the first person that Jesus sent to herald his resurrection message was a woman - Mary Magdalene; Jesus sent her to preach. She was the first person to preach the gospel of the resurrection. It was a woman. Now again, the Bible tells us about four women - four daughters of Philip the evangelist - and that they were all preachers. The Bible says they prophesied [Acts 21:8-9]. Now, where we get the word ‘preaching’ from in the Bible is actually from the word ‘prophecy’. ‘To Prophesy’ is what was translated into ‘to preach’. So when you say you are a preacher, it’s coming from where it talks about prophesying, meaning speaking words - the word of faith - voicing God’s word, releasing God’s word, not just the prophetic utterance of revelation now. But these women prophesied and they spoke forth the word of God. Remember how they spoke concerning Paul the apostle. See? Four daughters of Philip the evangelist who prophesied, meaning the four of them preached. And where do you prophesy? The Bible says that the gift of prophecy is for the church. You see? It’s for the church. So, he says we may all prophesy, and that by cause. Now if the Bible says in the congregation we may all prophesy one by one, and that by cause, all of us [1 Corinthians 14:31]. ‘All of us’ - again referring to the church - that means men and women in the church can prophesy. So, remember that and that will help you understand. Now, the second part of your question was, Gustave, “Why didn’t we have in the Bible female apostles, and female evangelists, and female teachers and so on and so forth?” Well, I’ll tell you why. First of all, if you go back in the Old Testament, you will find that there were leaders who were women, and God raised them up. Deborah for one was a leader [Judges 4:4]. She was a judge. Now, I know you are talking about in the New Testament. Well, interesting. You’ve got to understand the day in which they lived. This was a time that the people would not receive a woman. Yet, Christ sent a woman to herald the good news. She may have not been called an evangelist, but how else do you describe an evangelist? It’s not all evangelists that were named in the Bible. Just because Jesus picked certain men didn’t mean he didn’t have women. The Bible tells us that there were multitudes of women who were with him when he went out to preach the word. They were there. But, you see, the writers of the Bible wouldn’t have given us the details of their operation in ministry, because Jesus had twelve men. Now, just because he chose twelve men didn’t mean he didn’t have more men; he had more men. See? So, he didn’t choose twelve men to represent men; he chose twelve men to represent him. So that’s very important. We shouldn’t use those kinds of examples as a covering for everything that God was supposed to do, because if you read the Old Testament, you’ll find that He chose men and women, and in the New Testament, He ministered through men and women, and that’s very important for us. Alright! So the simple reason was [that] the background of the people of the day was clear; they would not accept a woman. And so Jesus picked men, but he gave women responsibilities until the Holy Spirit should come, so that in the church where Paul also [the same Paul you quoted] tells us that in the Church of Jesus Christ, there is neither male nor female as he says there’s neither bond nor free, there’s neither Jew nor Gentile [Galatians 3:27-29]. He says we are all one in Christ, which means the Holy Spirit ministers through both men and women now. That’s important.
