As of 2018, the Chinese government has implemented sweeping rules on religious practices, adding more requirements for religious groups and barring unapproved organizations from engaging in any religious activity. One of the goals of the government work plan for “promoting Chinese Christianity” between 2018 and 2022 is “thought reform”. The plan calls for “retranslating and annotating” the Bible, to find commonalities with socialism and establish a “correct understanding” of the text. In addition, the sale of the Bible has always been controlled in China. The Bible is no longer available for purchase or downloads online, a loophole that had existed for years. These restrictions have grossly denied millions of Christians in China access to the Bible. But, thank God, we have the Rhapsody Bible in the Chinese language. The fight against the circulation of the Bible around the world is rising with more nations enforcing a partial or total ban on the Bible. Many people are put to death and many several publicly humiliated for possessing a copy of the Bible. A copy of the Bible was found on Bahia, a young Christian in India and some villagers dragged her out of her house, several people beat her, hitting her wherever they could, and she was unable to protect herself from the blows and started to bleed. One person held her left arm, another, the right. She managed to squeeze the Bible tight under one arm and protected it as long as she could. Finally, someone yanked it from her, and her Bible was burnt…For every copy of the Bible they burn, we will replace it with ten! This is one out of many scenarios faced by people in different places around the world where the Bible is a target. The Bible is one of the primary ways God reaches people in places where it is hard to follow Jesus; His Word is a light and the bread that sustains their faith.
