Proverbs 29:2 When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn 4. Pray for righteousness to prevail in our legislature, that Legislators at all levels in Nigeria would work conscious of their role as representatives of the people and not lords over them. We pray that all Legislators who mortgage the future of their constituents for selfish gain by supporting bills and taking positions that are detrimental to the people, are losing favour, influence and authority; their ill-gotten wealth will suddenly fail and their political ambitions will be truncated. JUDE 1:11 – Woe upon them! For they follow the example of Cain who killed his brother, and like Balaam, they will do anything for money; and like Korah, they have disobeyed God... 5. Pray for Christians in government in this nation; declare that they are bold and courageous to remain uncompromisingly righteous in spite of pressure to conform, and that their integrity will bring them honour. Pray that they would use their positions and authority to favour God’s righteous cause, help the church and foster the spread of the gospel in our Nation. ESTHER 4:13–14 MSG: “Don’t think that just because you live in the king’s house you’re the one Jew who will get out of this alive. If you persist in staying silent at a time like this, help and deliverance will arrive for the Jews from someplace else; but you and your family will be wiped out. Who knows? Maybe you were made queen for just such a time as this.” 6. Pray for the will, desire and boldness in the hearts of our leaders to do what is right, and refuse to yield to corruption and negative influences; that peace may prevail in this nation and the gospel may have free course. Declare that all leaders who exalt and pursue their personal or sectorial agendas to the detriment of the nation would suddenly be unseated and have no part in the glorious future of our great nation. ISAIAH 32:1 – Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgment. Pray specially for Christians, and the church of Jesus Christ all over Nigeria; declare that the saints are strengthened and emboldened to continually take their place as God’s agent of change, rather than being victims of the system. Declare that through the preaching of the gospel, our life of dominion, and bold demonstration of our faith, the gospel is prevailing, and the influence of Christ continues to dominate in this nation, subduing darkness and evil and all manipulations of satan to destroy our nation. MATTHEW 5:14, 16 – Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid... 16Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. 2. Declare that all security agencies and structures in Nigeria are strengthened to contain and subdue all forces of violence and destruction. Pray that major corporations and business establishments in Nigeria are awakened to their social responsibility and demonstrate sincere commitment to the development of this country from which they have so graciously benefited. Declare that they are rising and taking responsibility to play their role in nation-building and national development, and their investments are wisely channeled to areas of need and protected from corruption and diversion.
