THE FIRST AFRICAN COUNTRY TO BUILD STADIUM ON WATER. It’s no news that stadiums are built on water, but it’s a big deal when its come to the first stadium built on water by an African country. Angola becomes the first country to build a football stadium on water. The stadium was first opened over a few months ago in Luanda and more than 1,000 fans attended. The beautiful stadium cost the country in excess of $20 million and was built for six months. It’s built in such a way that even if there’s a heavy downpour, the water cannot rise to the stadium’s level. At the edge of the stadium, there are beautiful roads where fans watch the beautiful game from. What’s  amazing is that even if the ball accidentally falls in the water, there are people ready to collect it for the play to continue. Angola officially the Republic of Angola (Portuguese: República de Angola; Kikongo, Kimbundu and Umbundu: Repubilika ya Ngola), is a west-coast country of south-central Africa. It is the seventh-largest country in Africa, bordered by Namibia to the south, the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the north, Zambia to the east, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west. Angola has an exclave province, the province of Cabinda that borders the Republic of the Congo and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The capital and largest city of Angola in Luanda. Although inhabited since the Paleolithic Era, what is now Angola was molded by Portuguese colonisation. It began with, and was for centuries limited to, coastal settlements and trading posts established starting in the 16th century. In the 19th century, European settlers slowly and hesitantly began to establish themselves in the interior. The Portuguese colony that became Angola did not have its present borders until the early 20th century because of resistance by groups such as the Cuamato, the Kwanyama and the Mbunda. Angola has vast mineral and petroleum reserves, and its economy is among the fastest-growing in the world, especially since the end of the civil war; however, the standard of living remains low for most of the population, and life expectancy in Angola is among the lowest in the world, while infant mortality is among the highest. Angola’s economic growth is highly uneven, with most of the nation’s wealth concentrated in a disproportionately small sector of the population. It’s funny how some of us don’t know about this stadium, tell us how u feel about this structure in the comment box below. #innovate #inspire #ideate

What are the types of AI? The two general categories of AI are general and narrow. General AI (or “strong AI”) is the capability of a machine to perform many or all of the intellectual tasks a human can do, including the ability to understand context and make judgments based on it. This type of AI currently does not exist outside the realm of science fiction, though it is the ultimate goal of many AI researchers. Whether it is even possible to achieve general AI is currently unknown. But even if achieved it is possible, such machines would likely not possesses sentience (i.e., the ability to perceive one’s environment, and experience sensations such as pain and suffering, or pleasure and comfort). Narrow AI (or “weak AI) is the capability of a machine to perform a more limited number and range of intellectual tasks a human can do. Narrow AI can be programmed to “learn” in a limited sense but lacks the ability to understand context. While different form of AI functions can be strung together to perform a range of varied and complex tasks, such machines remain in the category of narrow AI. #innovate #inspire #ideate

DELIVERY ROBOTS WILL SOON BE SEEN ON THE SIDEWALKS OF WASHINGTON. Washington has become the eighth state to greenlight the use of delivery robots on sidewalks and crosswalks. Governor Jay Inslee signed the bill yesterday, following support from Starship Technologies, which specializes in autonomous last-mile and local deliveries. Proponents of delivery robots tout reduced congestion and pollution, since the robots are primarily electric, plus they give local business a competitive advantage. Companies that are otherwise lacking a delivery infrastructure can use the technology to regain an edge from the likes of Amazon. However, others say that such devices pose a risk to pedestrians, although there's no evidence of any major safety incidents as yet. Using a combination of computer vision, GPS and machine learning, the robots are designed to autonomously map their environment, navigate crowded areas and avoid obstacles. Virginia paved the way for delivery robots back in 2017, and Idaho, Wisconsin, Florida, Ohio, Utah and Arizona have since followed suit. Other states, such as San Francisco, are still grappling with the legislation involved. But with major global companies such as FedEx taking an increasing interest in the technology, states around the US will have to address the issue sooner rather than later. #innovate #inspire #ideate

HOW 5G WILL CHANGE THE FARMING INDUSTRY. Next-generation 5G networks can be 100 times faster than 4G, making communication between devices and servers much quicker. 5G can also carry much more data than other networks. That makes the technology ideal for transmitting information from remote sensors and drones, key tools that are being tested by farmers. 5G is also helping to automate farming processes. Drones that use 5G are helping to improve potato production in the Netherlands. And in Japan, 5G sensors are used to monitor the water temperature and salt concentration of oyster farms. 5G collars UK initiative 5G RuralFirst launched a smartphone app in March called Me+Moo, which lets farmers track a "connected" cow and receive daily updates on the animal's health and behavior. The system, which is being tested on cows at the Agri-Epi Center in Somerset, England, is funded in part by a UK government grant and supported by the tech company Cisco (CSCO). Cows are equipped with 5G-connected collars that monitor their health and habits The cows wear 5G-connected collars that send data to the app on everything from what they're eating to how they're sleeping. Farmers can see the info instantly, and pass it on to veterinarians or nutritionists. "This provides peace of mind that the cows are happy, healthy and behaving normally, as well as early warning if they are getting sick, are pregnant or need to be checked," said project manager Duncan Forbes. 5G evangelists argue that because farms cover large areas that are difficult to monitor, the agriculture sector is well placed to benefit from remote data collection. The technology could help irrigation systems to turn on at the optimal time of day, or cattle to be grazed on areas that provide the best nutrition. By improving efficiency, it will be possible to produce more food. Yet to make a difference, 5G will first need to be installed in rural areas. Automation matters The UN Food and Agriculture Organization predicts that in order to provide for the world's rapidly rising population, the planet will need to grow 70% more food in 2050 than it did in 2009. "To respond to those demands, farmers will need new technologies to produce more from less land, with fewer hands," reads one report from the organization. That's where automation comes in. In 2017, another 5G RuralFirst project became the first in the world to successfully plant, tend and harvest a crop without a single human stepping foot in the field. Autonomous tractors sowed the seeds, drones with sensors monitored the crops, and smaller machines took samples to assess what fertilizers and pesticides to apply and where. The project, called Hands-Free Hectare, reported another successful harvest in 2018. It's now going even further by using 5G technology to increase precision and efficiency in crop spraying. "This will help not only sustain farming, but also make it easier and less demanding for those doing it," Jonathan Gill, a researcher at Harper Adams University, said of the innovations. #innovate #inspire #ideate

HEATHROW AIRPORT INTRODUCES THE BIGGEST FACIAL RECOGNITION TECHNOLOGY IN THE WORLD. Travelers flying out of Heathrow Airport can leave their passports and boarding passes in their bags this summer, as the airport is introducing facial recognition technology that doesn’t require it. In what they're calling the largest biometric technology rollout in the world, Heathrow is undergoing a £50million project that will install facial recognition technology at check-in, bag drops, security lanes and boarding gates in an effort to make the travel experience more seamless. This new technology is expected to reduce an average passenger’s time from check-in to take-off by up to one-third. Heathrow has already been using the technology for domestic flights and in some stages on entry to the U.K. at the border with biometric e-gates, however, this is the first time it will be used for a departing traveler, especially those traveling internationally. The airport’s “long-term aim of the technology will be for passengers to walk through the airport without breaking their stride”. Travelers who feel uncomfortable using the technology can choose to op out. Last October, Heathrow customer relations and service director Jonathan Coen said, "As our passenger numbers continue to grow, we must look for innovative ways to make it easier and quicker for them to travel through Heathrow with choice, whilst keeping our airport secure.” “Biometrics are key to helping us do that and we are really excited about the biggest roll out of this equipment at any UK airport." #innovate #inspire #ideate
