Don’t be Like Lot’s Wife, Pastor Warns Delegates Without total devotion and commitment to the gospel, distractions will set in, and with that comes doubt. This was the submission of Pastor Chris Oyakhilome during his teaching after the opening ceremony of the International Pastor’s and Partners Conference as he admonished delegates on the importance of focusing on Jesus. Taking the delegates through the deep secrets and insights into the word of God, Pastor noted that serving God becomes laborious without total devotion to the Lord. He reminded them that serving God has responsibilities and it is not possible to serve God without total devotion. "Let the Lord be the center of everything you do. Seek to please Him, not yourself. Make that personal decision how you want to serve God", he said. Using the story of Lot’s Wife to highlight the impediments that comes from halfhearted commitment, he warned them not to look back in their devotion to the Lord. "Don't look back on this journey. Don't compare yourself to your non-ministry friends. The ministry didn't cost you anything but it gave you everything. Don't think of the earthly things you would have acquired. Remember Lots wife. She could not be saved even when God sent angels to save them". He added, noting that to fully appreciate the God, one’s heart, time and resources must be totally devoted to him.

What Doest Thou Here Elijah? #ThrowBack #PastorChukaspeaks Several years ago, in my second year at University, I and a couple of friends found we had some sudden spare time that day as several lectures had been cancelled. Having a thirst for adventure we decided to go hiking in the wilderness outside the city of Benin that was a combination of forests, scrubland and sandstone features. Getting into an old beatup Van we drove out and having followed the roads out of the city as far as they and erosion would allow, well beyond the old Benin Zoo, for those of you who know the city. When we could drive no further we parked the van and set off into the wilderness. After a mile of hiking through the bush we came to a sandstone cliff that was about 16 - 18 meters high with rubber trees at its top and in a fit of youthful exuberance, decided to climb it. We imagined ourselves being the first people ever to scale its sheer face to the top and we jumped to the task. 3 meters up the red sandstone cliff, our nice university clothing had been stained red by the friable sand and with great difficulty getting handholds, the first of us announced he was giving up and climbed back down. I and my other friend, being more adventurous, redoubled our efforts but another couple of meters further up and with fewer and fewer handholds except for roots and stubborn plants, he too threw in the towel and carefully climbed back down. Their failure to conquer the cliff made me more determined to succeed as I imagined myself at the top of the cliff, hands raised as the triumphant conqueror and explorer so I kept going. When I had climbed to a height of about 12 meters. (40 feet) I realised there were no more handholds and I was stuck with no means of climbing the last 4 meters to the top as there were no more tufts of grass, bushes or handholds to use to climb further. To make matters worse, the sandstone I was stuck to like a limpet was slowly giving way so I could not make my way back down. As I looked up trying desperately to find a handhold with pictures flashing through my mind of me falling backwards and ending my life 40 feet below I was startled to see the face of my friend who had first given up on the climb appear above me at the top of the cliff. As I stared up at him in shock he laughed. I managed to croak through my panic, "how did you get there?", he laughed again pointing to my right and when I slowly turned my head in the direction he was pointing, I saw that there was a gentle zigzag footpath about 30 meters away leading from the foot of the cliff to its top. At that moment, as clearly as I ever heard anything I heard "What doest thou here Elijah?". I knew it was a reference to 1st Kings 19:9. At that moment, in sheer peril of my life, I remembered that I had so many dreams of preaching the gospel and here I was on a cliff that had nothing to do with those dreams. There and then on that cliff I prayed, repented and asked God for help and praise God, he helped me. I cannot tell you how I climbed the rest of the way but I made it to the top of that cliff so thankful from then to now to God for saving me. Whats the moral of this story? Many times, you may decide to get into a fight or battle you don't need to fight as there might be a simpler way which the Holy Ghost can show you if you would only ask. Remember that the Lord leads us beside still waters and guides us along paths that he has prepared ahead of time. It is our faith which overcomes the world, not the outward fight. For that one you have been preaching to who has not been listening, don't get angry, intercede. Don't fight those who aren't offering you a job, decide to make one. Our Man of God Pastor Chris has always told us that the secret is the Holy Ghost. Let him show you the way as you pray and you will never find yourself stuck on a cliff of life unable to climb up or down. #CEGermany #WEUZ4 #EUVZ4
